Numbness

Bruarfoss, Brekkuskógur, Iceland Another wonderful hidden place of Iceland: Bruarfoss. Searching for a particular angle I had to walk inside this ice cold water. I forgot about everything even my feet. When I finished my work and got out of the water again they were completely numb. I was lucky enough to have another pair of socks and shoes and a towel with me, so I could change it quickly. It took several hours until the last toe was working again. It`s only a short story but it`s an example for the implacability of nature. But that`s what I like most: The contrast between harshness and beauty of the wilderness.

Peace

Land`s End, Cornwall, UK This picture needed a lot of scouting and patience. Waiting for a weather situation that would fit to the dramatic landscape at Land`s End in a perfect way was inevitable. It took three days, but that evening I knew I would get my chance. I wanted to catch a special foreground that could work as a frame for the arch and that I didn`t see in any other Land`s End pic yet. Finally it was a very detailed work. And I was so lucky with the sea gull that was resting on a stone (bottom left) for more than half an hour, watching the sunset and enjoying the end of the day. This was so peaceful and finally lead to the title of my work.
